ServicesBasement Cleanouts

Basement Cleanouts in Smyrna, GA

We carry out the boxes, broken furniture and old appliances that have piled up in your basement, sweep the floor and haul it all away. You get usable space back, and your furnace and water heater get the clear room they need to run well.

Two workers seen from behind carry a blue storage bin and a black trash bag from a garage up a ramp into a box truck, with a wheelbarrow, tools and empty shelving nearby

When a basement cleanout is the right call

Basements tend to fill up a little at a time. Moving boxes that never got unpacked, exercise equipment that stopped getting used, a sofa that lost its spot upstairs. Eventually the staircase is the only open path, and getting to the water shutoff or the breaker panel means shifting a pile first.

That clutter costs more than space. Boxes stacked against a return vent or tight around the furnace make your system work harder to move air. Cardboard and old fabric hold moisture through humid Georgia summers, so a dehumidifier runs longer and the basement smells musty no matter what you do. Clearing it out is one of the simplest ways to make the lower level more comfortable and easier on your utility bill.

We do the heavy part. You point, we carry, and you decide what stays.

What our basement cleanouts include

Carrying everything up the stairs

We handle the lifting, including bulky pieces that came down years ago and seem impossible to get back up. Our crew works in pairs on heavy items and takes stairs slowly.

Clearing space around equipment

We pay special attention to the area around your furnace, water heater, sump pump and electrical panel. Those spots should be reachable and open to airflow, and they're often the most crowded.

Furniture and appliances

Old recliners, mattresses, spare freezers and dehumidifiers that quit all go out with the rest. If you only have one or two big pieces, our furniture removal and appliance removal services may fit better.

Damp and damaged items

Soggy boxes, warped shelving and stained rugs are common after a leak or a wet spring. We bag and remove them so you can see the floor and walls clearly again.

Sorting for donation and recycling

Usable items get set aside for donation where possible, and metal and electronics go to recycling rather than straight to the landfill.

Sweeping up before we leave

After the final armload goes on the truck, we run a broom over the areas we cleared, so dust, packing peanuts and cardboard bits don't stay behind.

When it's time to clear out the basement

  • Your equipment is boxed in

If a service tech would need to shift boxes just to get at your HVAC or water heater, the clutter has gone too far. Equipment that's hard to reach gets maintained less often and can run less efficiently.

  • A musty smell that won't go away

Old cardboard, clothing and paper soak up humidity. Removing them often does more than another air freshener.

  • The dehumidifier never shuts off

Damp clutter keeps adding moisture to the air. Clearing it gives the machine a fair chance to keep up.

  • You're getting ready to sell or remodel

Buyers and contractors both need to see the space. A cleanout is usually the first step before finishing a basement or listing a house.

  • Things are stored because they're too heavy to move

If the old sofa or broken freezer is only down there because nobody wants to carry it, that's exactly what we're for.

How a basement cleanout works

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Tell us roughly what's down there and how much of it. We'll set up a free on-site estimate so you get an upfront price before any work starts.

  2. 2

    Walk through and confirm

On the day, we walk the basement with you and mark anything that stays. Nothing leaves without your say-so.

  3. 3

    Protect, then carry out

We lay down floor protection along the path through your home when we need to use the main stairs, then load items onto our truck parked outside.

  4. 4

    Sweep and final check

We sweep the cleared floor and walk through with you once more, so you can see the space around your furnace and water heater is open.

What shapes the price of a basement cleanout

Our pricing is upfront with no hidden fees, so you hear the number before any lifting. Most of it depends on volume, or how much of the truck bed your basement fills. A few things only basements have can move it up or down.

Size of the load
Volume is the main driver. A couple of furniture pieces fill a small corner of the truck, while a basement packed to the walls fills far more.
Getting things out
Steep or narrow stairs, tight corners and walkout doors all affect carry time. Basements with an outside door usually go faster.
Bulky or heavy pieces
Pool tables, safes, chest freezers and exercise machines need more people and sometimes have to be partly taken apart.
Wet or damaged items
Soaked boxes, wet carpet and swollen particleboard are much heavier than dry material, and that weight can raise the load cost.

What people ask before a basement cleanout

Something not covered here? (404) 689-9183

Does everything need sorting before you get here?

It doesn't. Plenty of people simply point out what they're keeping and let everything else go. If you'd like to go through some boxes first, go ahead, and we won't touch any piles you've only partly sorted.

Will a cleared basement help my energy bill?

It can, when clutter is the obstacle. Clear space around the return vents, furnace and water heater lets air move, and hauling out damp cardboard gives the dehumidifier less moisture to fight. We can't promise a specific savings, but that equipment works more easily in an open basement.

Will you take paint and chemicals?

Liquid paint, solvents, fuel and items like them need special handling. Let us know what's in the basement when you call, and we'll tell you what we can haul and what needs a separate drop-off.

Can you help after my basement flooded?

We can. Once the water is gone, we'll haul out soaked boxes, carpet and furniture. Pumping water and mold treatment aren't part of our work, so if there's a lot of mold, get it looked at before we arrive.

What happens to everything you take?

Working items go to a donation center whenever one will accept them. Scrap metal and old electronics go to recyclers, and only what's left goes to proper disposal. We take care of all of those arrangements.
