Storage Unit Cleanouts in Smyrna

A storage unit you never visit still sends a bill every month. We carry out everything you no longer want, haul it off, and sweep the floor behind us. That leaves you free to turn in your key and end the rental for good.

When a cleanout makes more sense than another month of rent

A rented unit usually begins as a stopgap while you move, renovate or sort out a family change. Then the months turn into a year or two. The payment keeps leaving your account, and climate-controlled units usually cost more than standard ones. Emptying the unit is one of the simplest ways to cut a running cost you may have stopped noticing.

We handle storage unit cleanouts for people across Smyrna and the surrounding area. You tell us what stays with you and what can go. We do the lifting, carrying and hauling, and we take usable items to donation and recyclable materials to recycling where we can, so less of your old stuff ends up in a landfill.

If some of it is coming home with you, we can help with that too. Many people find that once the unit is gone, the last few boxes fit easily in a garage or closet.

What our storage unit cleanout covers

Full load-out

We carry everything out of the unit, from heavy dressers and mattresses to stacks of boxes and loose odds and ends. You don't need to move anything before we arrive.

Sorting with you

Before anything goes on the truck, we confirm what you want to keep. If you'd like to set aside photos, papers or keepsakes, we work around them carefully.

Donation and recycling

Furniture, housewares and clothing in decent shape go to donation when possible. Metal, cardboard and other recyclables are separated from true trash.

Old appliances and bulky pieces

Fridges, washers, sleeper sofas and treadmills that were stored and forgotten are part of the job. They're the same items we handle in our appliance removal and furniture removal work.

Sweep-out at the end

Once it's empty, we sweep the floor and pick up the small debris. Facilities often expect a clean unit at move-out, and this helps you avoid a cleaning charge.

Signs it's time to clear out your storage unit

Nobody has looked inside in ages
When the door has stayed shut since last season, the things behind it have likely dropped out of your everyday life. At that point the rent is often worth more to you than what it protects.
The rent went up again
Storage rates often creep up after the first term. When the monthly bill starts to sting, ending the lease is a real saving that starts the following month.
Boxes are sagging or smell musty
Cardboard soaks up humidity, and Georgia summers are hard on non-climate-controlled units. Soft boxes, mildew spots or signs of mice mean the contents are breaking down.
You're paying for a second unit
Some people end up renting two units because the first filled up. Clearing one or both can cut that cost quickly.
A move-out date is coming
The facility may have given notice, or you may have decided to close the account yourself. Either way, a set date is easier to meet with a crew doing the heavy work.

How a storage unit cleanout works

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Describe the unit's size, what's stored in it and which facility it's at. We can often price the job during that call at no charge. If you'd like us to look in person first, we offer free, no-obligation on-site estimates.

  2. 2

    Plan access with the facility

Many facilities have gate hours and access codes, and some need the tenant on site or on an approved list. We'll pick a time that fits those rules so nobody waits at the gate.

  3. 3

    Load, sort and haul

Our crew carries everything out, keeps your saved items separate, and loads the rest onto our truck. Donations and recycling are set aside as we go.

  4. 4

    Sweep and hand it back

We sweep the empty unit and walk it with you if you're there. Then you can return the key, close the account and stop the monthly charge.

What affects the price of a storage unit cleanout

Your price comes down to how much truck space your belongings fill and the labor it takes to get them loaded. We offer upfront pricing with no hidden fees, and we walk you through the number before any lifting starts. These are the things that change it.

How much of the unit is filled
Volume drives the price more than anything else. A small unit holding a few boxes and a lamp takes a fraction of the truck space that a large unit stacked floor to ceiling does.
Weight and awkward shapes
A piano, a solid oak dresser or a home gym needs extra hands and careful loading. That extra effort adds time to the job.
Where the unit sits
With a drive-up unit on the ground floor, we can back the truck close and load fast. Interior units on upper floors mean elevator trips and longer walks down the hall.
Disposal rules for certain items
Mattresses, TVs, old paint and fridges or freezers that still hold refrigerant often go to separate drop-off points. That extra step can show up in the total.

Questions people ask before clearing a unit

Does someone have to meet your crew at the facility?
It depends on the facility's rules. Some only let the renter open the unit or ask you to put our names on an approved list, and others just need a gate code. Being there for the first few minutes to point out your keepers is helpful, and then we can take it from there.
Can you bring a few things to my home instead of hauling them away?
Yes. Let us know which items you're keeping when you call, and we'll plan for a stop at your home. Those things stay separate from the haul-away load the whole time.
What happens to the items you take?
Anything in usable shape goes to donation where possible, and metal and cardboard are recycled. Only what can't be reused or recycled goes to disposal.
My move-out deadline is close. Can you fit me in?
Often, yes. We have same-day and next-day service available, though the exact timing depends on our schedule and your facility's gate hours. Tell us your deadline when you call and we'll plan the visit around it.
Will the unit be clean enough to get my move-out approved?
We sweep the floor and remove the small debris once the unit is empty. Each facility sets its own move-out standards, so it's worth checking yours, but most people simply close the account after we finish.
